"THE MOMENT I LEFT, IT STARTED RAINING AGAIN."

"FOR ME, THE MOST MEMORABLE day of the
shoot was traveling to Littleton,” says Kargman, referring to a
sequence shot at the Columbine Memorial. “When the plane
touched down in Denver, it was pouring rain, and the rain got
worse and worse during the drive to Littleton. Unfortunately,
I didn’t have any choice but to shoot in the rain. But the
moment I reached the memorial, it stopped raining. The sky
was overcast and gave off this gorgeous natural light. It
remained clear long enough for me to shoot what I needed.
Then, the moment I left, it started raining again.”
Principal photography wrapped in Santa Clarita, California on
January 13, 2008. Several months of post-production
followed. Kargman not only directed the film, but also edited it. Feature film editor ED MARX (Jeepers Creepers,
Peaceful Warrior) made valuable editorial contributions as well. Post-production also included completion of 80
visual-effects shots, many filmed against a green or blue screen.
The score was composed by REGAN, a popular Los Angeles
musician who had attended high school at Columbine and whose
sister was a student there at the time of the Columbine
Massacre. “I never thought I’d have the chance to say what I
wanted to say [about the tragedy],” says Regan. “It was so nice
to be able to make an artistic contribution to a film that is
making a beautiful representation of the people who died.”

Nadeya Ward (who also starred as Kelly Fleming) wrote and performed the end-credit song “Alive.” Several key
passages in that song relate to Fleming. Songs by MOTHER JONES , MIR WAVE, and JIM LUKE are also featured.
